ABOUT CONFLICT MANAGEMENT
Since managing conflict is not an innate trait, people usually find themselves in situations that they do not have the skills to manage. A basic concept that seems to motivate our behavior is: If I allow another to be right, then that means that would make me wrong and I certainly don't want to be wrong! So there can be no resolution to the conflict. A stalemate, therefore, occurs. The relationship stops, gossip begins. Feelings are hurt, anger erupts, and the conflict escalates.
This scene is found all too often, in the workplace. People do not always work with those with whom they choose. Their co-workers may not share the same values, beliefs, or principles, so, of course, conflict will inevitably occur. Even those who consider themselves friends have differences.
